”A book against Mafia” Project

In January 2014, the University of Roma Tre has accepted the invitation of the Councillor for culture and legality in the municipality of San Giuseppe Jato (Palermo) to participate in the rebirth of the public library in a building confiscated from the crime. The Rector called on the entire academic community to help with donations of books. The libraries of the University took charge of the project. The initiative, called "A book against Mafia", has collected about 4,300 books that were sent to the sicilian library. For this effort, on the opening day of the Library, on June 6, the City of San Giuseppe Jato handed honorary citizenship to Roma TRE. The collaboration between Roma Tre and the City of San Giuseppe Jato continued with a training project aimed at staff of the sicilian library

Book Crossing

For this project a "Crossing Zone" station has been deployed outside the Arts Library (Spettacolo section) and the Sciences and Technologies Library (Torri premise)
The project, at virtually no cost, wants to emphasize in a light and informal way the role of libraries, beyond the institutional lending, as a place of "exchange", as well as of preservation and promotion of knowledge.
